--Norwalk Catholic School -Friday Flyer--

February 14, 2019

Dear NCS Parents,

I hope you enjoy the long weekend ahead and have time to rest and relax! Students enjoyed receiving their Valentine carnations today and Student Council made sure all of the children felt special! We did this by writing a kind message on foam hearts that the teachers passed out to students today. Thank you again for allowing your child to purchase flowers!

Reminder: No school on Monday, 2/18 due to President’s Day! Next week we do not have an elementary Mass on Wednesday, due to the Bishop’s Mass on Friday, 2/22. Please join us on 2/22 at 9:30am in the convocation center for Mass with Bishop Thomas, if you are able to attend! The area sister schools will be joining us!  It is a wonderful chance to come together to worship our Lord! I hope to see you there!

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day and God Bless! Mrs. Englert

PTO Calendar Raffle: We are in full swing with the planning of the Calendar Raffle Fundraiser. This year we have opted to change the date of the calendar raffle, but I am sure it will be a huge success again this year. In the last two years the PTO has raised over $25,000 toward technology at NCS and for our students. This year the money raised will go toward new smartboards in the classrooms. The teachers use these everyday! The Raffle sales will be starting in March, but right now we are asking for donations that will be raffled off daily. At the last PTO meeting there was discussion of increasing the gift cards and cash donations as raffle items. This may help to increase the number of calendars sold because everyone loves to win Gift Cards and cash! We hope to have all donations turned into the elementary or ECC office by February 26. We will organize and print the calendar so sales can begin March 1.  Thank you very much to all of you who have donated to this fundraiser in the past.  If you are interested in making a donation please let me know. Suggestions: Cash - Gift Cards - Gift baskets. Thank you for all of your support. We are really excited for this year’s raffle and with your help the PTO will be able to support our students and school! Lori Matlack -  lmatlack@ncsmail.org

News worth Repeating!!

Monroe Street Gym Doors: Monroe Street gym doors will be locked in the mornings. This is for two reasons. 1. I feel it is unsafe and a hazard to have an unlocked door off to the side/back of a building where there are no classrooms, etc. 2. The students coming up to 3rd grade are tracking in salt and dirt onto the gym floor when coming into the building. This will ruin the floor finish. Please let your students know these doors will no longer be unlocked in the mornings. Students must walk around to the courtyard arbor doors by 2nd grade or if before 8:30am, go to the cafeteria. Thank you!

Girls On The Run Program: The Norwalk Parks & Recreation Department will be sponsoring/hosting a Girls on the Run program in the Spring of 2019. Empowered…strong…inspiring… healthy…FUN! These are just a few of the words that have been used to describe the Girls on the Run program from past participants. We are excited to announce that your daughter can be part of this empowering program this coming Spring!   Girls on the Run (GOTR) will be offered at The Ernsthausen Community Center, in Norwalk, Ohio for girls in grades 3, 4, and 5.  The program will meet twice a week in small teams of 8-20 girls. The girls will be taught core values and life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The 20-lesson curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork, and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large.   The running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. Important social, psychological, and physical skills and abilities are developed and reinforced throughout the program.  For questions, contact the site liaison, Niki Cross, Recreation Director @ ncross@norwalkoh.com or (419) 663-6775 ext. 1026.  Online registration will open Monday, February 4th. Please visit www.GirlsOnTheRunNWOhio.org to register and for more information on this incredible, life-changing program! All registration must be done through the GOTR website.
